Writer/director Todd Solondz (center) explains the link between the blurred out Toys “R” Us logo in his new film Dark Horse, which had its area premiere yesterday at IFFBoston, and the reference to the Dominican Republic in the movie’s credits. Solondz insisted on including Toys “R” Us in the film, but the company wanted no part of his work. He was able to “borrow” the store’s exterior by simply blurring out the logo. But the only place they could find an interior that looked suitably like the toy emporium was in the Dominican Republic, where they shot “for one afternoon.” Right: Jordan Gelber, who stars in Dark Horse as the cocky man-child Abe.
